No thanks, I'm good.Uh-oh. You know that awesome new Star Wars Rogue One movie we’re getting at the end of the year? Yeah. Reshoots.
Shit.
Okay, I’m trying not to overreact right now because I WAS REALLY looking forward to the upcoming Star Wars movie. I mean what self-respecting geek isn’t? It’s based on a cool part of the cannon and has a really cool plot.
But what’s not cool are reshoots – generally speaking. Sure, there have been a couple of movies quite recently which have had reshoots and have come out of things relatively unscathed.
So what’s the reason for the reshoots? I can’t decide whether this is a good thing or a bad thing yet, but apparently it’s because Disney Executives didn’t think the movie had the same tone as a classic Star Wars movie.
It’s a bad thing because what the hell? Just what in the hell kind of movie has director Gareth Edwards made here???
It’s a good thing because at least someone’s looking out for the fans and our expectations. They don’t think the movie has a good enough Star Wars feel to keep us rapid geeks happy, so they’re trying to fix it.
The cast will re-convene mind-June to reshoot some scenes with the intent to lighten the mood, bring some levity into the story and restore a sense of fun to the adventure.
Essentially, the movie was too damn dark – I think that makes me want to watch the movie even more now.
It is also believed (but not officially reported) that the movie reshoots will allow Alden Ehrenreich’s Han Solo to film a cameo appearance for the movie, which is something I’d definitely want to see.
