No thanks, I'm good.It was some time ago now that Sony announced their intentions to venture into the new, booming streaming TV market via the Playstation with comic book inspired show Powers.
Now that show has an air date and I can’t freakin’ wait!
I love the Powers comic book.
In an industry that has done the superhero story to death, Powers came along and did the impossible: gave us all a fresh look at a world swarming with superheroes.
Powers is a book created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming and follows the exploits of Christian Walker – a former superhero who has lost his powers, working secretly as a cop in Chicago PD. In his role, he must deal with a world of Superheroes some of whom were once his friends, allies and lovers.
His partner is Deena Pilgrim, a misfit cop with angry streak to rival the hulk himself. She becomes suspicious of Walker’s past and often bends the rules to get what she wants.
Sound awesome? Good – it is! Read more about the Powers comic book right here.
Powers is a TV series that has been in development for a number of years. The original series saw Jason Patric as Christina Walker and Lucy Punch as Deena Pilgrim and was being devised by FX in 2011.
Sadly, the project fell through for a number of reasons. By all accounts there were problems with both the scripts and the casting that could not be resolved.
The project was snapped up by Sony at later date and quickly cast Sharlto Copley as Christian Walker, Susan Heyward as Deena Pilgrim and Eddie Izzard as “Big Bad” Wolfe. They announced the show will air via the Playstation Network at some point this year.
Today, it has been announced Powers will air on March 10th via the PSN and if that hasn’t whet your appetite enough, check out this SO Geekin’ Awesome Powers trailer:
