That’s right, the movie based on the totally awesome Minecraft game has taken its first big steps to get production started: it has a director.
And it’s not who you might think it is.
There may be readers thinking to themselves right about now: how the hell are they going to make a movie based on Minecraft? I supposed it’s a valid question, but given the fact that Lego managed to do it (and do it VERY well), it’s more than a possibility. It’s going to happen AND it’s going to work.
Especially with a director who thinks outside the box.
Enter the new Minecraft director – Rob McElhenney of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fame.
That’s right, Deadline are reporting “Big Mac” from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has secured to direct the Minecraft Movie and I think it’s a fantastic idea.
Do you know how difficult it is for a TV show to stay on the air, fresh and relevant for 12 years? Can you think of many shows in this day an age who have lasted that long? Rob McElhenney is the co-creator for a show that has: It’s Always Sunny.
The point I’m trying to make is this: the man is creative. He’s had to be in order to keep the show on air for so long. He’s a very capable man and I think he’s going to smash the Minecraft Movie out of the park.
