We’re getting a brand new Marvel TV show guys – and it’s going to be awesome!
Over the past year or so, Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage have been in talks with Marvel over getting a Runaway’s adaptation off the ground.
Today, reports are coming in confirming their efforts have indeed been successful: Hulu have officially picked up the series.
Awesomeo!
Marvel’s Runaways was a comic book that was first released in 2003 and was created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona.
The comic book follows a group of teenagers who discover that their father’s are a part of a criminal organisation known as “The Pride” and then set about atoning for their parents sins.

According to the reports, Marvel’s Runaways TV show will pretty much follow closely in the comic books footsteps.
It helps that the writers of the show are not only familiar with the books, but are also fans of the series.
“I’m a long-time fan of Runaways and couldn’t be more excited to bring Brian and Adrian’s characters to life,” said Schwartz.
The project was developed under an overall deal Schwartz and Savage’s “Fake Empire” production company had forged with ABC, but sadly the studio decided against picking the show up.
Enter Hulu. They snapped up the show concept, with an initial order for a pilot plus additional scripts and a firm eye for a full season order after that.
“We’ve known the Runaways’ story would make great television,” said Jeph Loeb, EP and Head of Marvel Television, “and being lucky enough to have Josh and Stephanie — who have time and again created shows that speak so genuinely to this exact audience — write and produce the series is nothing short of remarkable.”
I think it’s great news and I can’t wait to see the show on our screens.
