Grave news from apocalypic wastelands ladies and gentlemen, infamous Mad Max (and Happy Fee director) George Miller says he won’t be doing any more Mad Max movies.
WTF? Does that mean there are no further Mad Max movies coming?
And why won’t Miller be making any more Mad Max movies? Because of the production problems of Fury Road. Goddammit.
“I won’t make more Mad Max movies,” Miller told New York newspaper Page Six. “I’ve shot in Australia in a field of wildflowers and flat red earth when it rained heavily forever. We had to wait 18 months and every return to the US was 27 hours. Those Mad Maxes take forever. I won’t do those any more.”
Well shit. But what does that mean for the franchise? Tom Hardy has reportedly signed on for three more Mad Max movies. Will the star re-think his stance? Or will that benefit him?
During the shooting of Mad Max it was no secret that Hardy and Miller didn’t get on during the shooting of the movie. In fact in May of last year, Hardy felt the need to publicly apologise to Miller over his behaviour.
So will the franchise move on without Miller at the helm? Possibly. The studio’s KNOW there’s money to be made off the back of the last one. Okay, it might not be the same without Miller, but I think it could turn out just okay without him.
As long as they maintain the world, the characters and the outstanding actors behind them, why the hell couldn’t it work?
Would you like to see the franchise continue without George Miller? Do you think it will adversely affect the franchise to proceed without Miller (depending on who they get to replace him)?
