No thanks, I'm good. That’s right Elektra has not only been confirmed for Daredevil season 2, but she’s also been cast.
Can you say awesomeo?
Remember in the first season of Daredevil when Matt Murdock mentions Elektra in passing? It was a big fan geek-out moment for me, but deep down I figured that Elektra would somehow definitely be a part of the storyline’s at some point or another.
When news broke Jon Bernthal had been cast as The Punisher last month, I feared the worst. You don’t have The Punisher in your show and not have him the focus of the main story arc – figured her involvement in the season season of the show to be over. My hopes rested on Elektra showing up in the third season.
But it seems I was wrong. There is room for both The Punisher and Elektra in the same story arc and she’s even been cast.
Deadline are today reporting that G.I. Joe: Retaliation and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo actress Elodie Yung has been cast in the role of Elektra and my god does she look the part.
At the moment it isn’t clear how Elektra will be introduced or even what role she will play, but I know what I’d LIKE to happen. Wanna hear it? Good.
I would like the character to firstly introduced in the flashback sequences. We know that Murdock has already had run-in’s with the character (he’s already mentioned it to Foggy) and we also know that The Punisher will be heavily involved in the story arc for the season. In fact, there’s a rumour going around which suggests the showrunner is referring to the season as “Daredevil vs The Punisher”.
Because of this, I don’t want Elektra to have a major role in this season. I think they’d just be throwing name’s into the pot and hoping for the best, without actually having any thought about the show longevity. So I think introducing her in Flashbacks first is the way to go. You cover the back story of how the two of them met in college and started a romance – and then move onto their break-up.
Then, at the end of the season you bring her back as Fisk’s bodyguard as a cliffhanger to lead into the third season. This could then set up Murdock vs Fisk round 2 OR bring The Hand into the equation (or both).
I think that would be a pretty cool way of doing things.
