No thanks, I'm good. One of Marvel’s popular character, a Gambit movie has been a long time coming. Portrayed by Taylor Kitsch in the largely forgettable Wolverine Origins (though the opening sequences were entirely awesome IMO), this time around the Cajun will be portrayed Channing Tatum.
A lot of people write the dude off, but I quite like him. He has a sense of humour and doesn’t mind laughing at himself.
Can he pull off Gambit though? ERM, let me phrase that – will he do a good job portraying the Gambit character? That’s anybody’s guess. BUT, we do know he’s been campaigning to play the character. Which suggests he knows a fair amount about the character AND if he’s that passionate, maybe he’ll try to play him reasonably close to the comic book character.
ANYWAY, back to the news story. Details regarding the movie are beginning to trickle out onto the interwebs and I have the latest right here! Check it out!
First up, we have some pretty cool production news.
Accoding to Louisiana’s Economic Fastlane Development website the movie will begin production in October and will wrap in December, ten months or so before it’s scheduled 7th October 2016 release date.
Bizarrely, the site also reports that the movie has been made for an exact budget of $154,975,309.
So far we only have Channing Tatum down as playing a role in the movie, with Rupert Wyatt directing – so who will the villain of the movie be?
CinemaBlend have you covered – stating that a website called Showbiz 411 have their hands on a casting call and further more reckon they been able to deduce some of the movie’s key character’s based on this.
First up, the role of “Louis”:
Louis– Male, any ethnicity, 40s-50s. Elegant and intelligent. An appealing entrepreneur with an unexpected dark side.
Eric Eisenberg, the writer of the article over at CinemaBlend, believes this is the key character from that casting call list and believe this man will be the villain of the movie.
Can you guess who it is yet?
Judging by the description (if it’s accurate) I would have to agree with Eric’s assessment: this description sounds an awful lot like Nathan Essex AKA Mr. Sinister to me, what about you guys?
It would certainly make a lot of sense. Mr. Sinister has strong ties to Gambit in the comic books and Sinister actually hand picked Gambit to lead the marauders into the sewers for the Mutant Massacre (for more details, check out the Mutant Massacre Wikipedia Page here) and has featured in his life a number of times since.
If so that would be fantastic. Mr. Sinister is easily one of my favourite comic book villains of all time. Like Apocolypse, the character had a bit more substance about him than other villains. He had more depth and because of this, he was that much more terrifying.
The casting call document has a number of other descriptions on the list and CinemaBlend has expertly picked through them and has managed to pretty much create a list of other important characters that the movie will include (basically, the rest of the Thieves Guild). But I’ll let the awesome site itself fill you in on those details.
