No thanks, I'm good.Yesterday, Marvel Movie Universe execs added a couple of more dates for mysterious new Marvel movies, as well as shifting a couple of Phase 3 titles around.
In doing so, they confirmed something truly awesome: an Ant-Man sequel and I have the PERFECT idea for the story line.
Hear me out a little, okay?
Looks like Marvel yesterday confirmed that there definitely will be an Ant-Man sequel. What’s more, the movie will be tentatively called Ant-Man and The Wasp at this juncture, but that’ll tell you all you need to know.
The next Ant-Man movie will feature The Wasp heavily in the sequel, but I wonder whether this COULD have a slight double meaning. If so, it would make a perfect stand-alone movie.
Hear me out a second.
The movie starts with The Wasp suit finished and Hope van Dyne fully getting to grips with the suit. Meanwhile, Ant-Man is still coping with the with the events of Captain America 3: The Civil War. Maybe it ended badly and he’s disillusioned, maybe he’s delighted; maybe he’s happy he’s helped Cap out AND perhaps he’s now part of the Avengers? Who know’s, right?
ANYWAY. as soon as Hope get’s the suit working, she pitches a crazy notion to Scott outside of the her father’s ear-shot. She wants to go find her mother in the micro universe and she’s wanted to do that ever since finding out about her fate. That’s why she wanted to get her hands on the suit.
Now, the perfect opportunity has arisen. Her father has now created a Wasp suit for her and now she has Scott, a partner in crime. Alsom since Scott fell into the micro universe and came back, she wants him to go with her. Maybe even at the start of the movie Pym has new information about the Mirco Universe? Maybe he now has the ability to track her?
At first, he doesn’t want to do it. He know’s full well that Hank Pym wouldn’t want to lose his daughter in the same way he lost his wife. But Hope convinces him; maybe she plays up to the whole “what would Cap do?” thing or maybe she convinces him that deep down, her father wants her mother back more than anything, he just didn’t want to leave Hope on her own.
So they go into the micro universe and begin tracking Janet. They seem to be drifting forever, but then the signal get’s stronger. They begin to see land. LAND? They begin to see life. WTF?
At this point I ask you: did you ever read the Hank Pym-lead Mighty Avengers after the Secret Invasion story-line? Pym doesn’t believe that Janet died after the Invasion; he actually believes she was transported to another world. He believes the Skrull’s sent her powers screwy. He convinces Reed Richards of the fact and together they find a way to get to her.
They find her in a Micro Universe surrounded by strange creatures, trying to survive. It was fascinating and I believe this is where they should go with the second Ant-Man movie.
They find Janet trying to survive in a world full of aliens. Time is screwy there; only a couple of months have passed for her. She still has the suit and finds herself fighting another war in the micro-universe.
She doesn’t believe Hope is her daughter at first; how could she? Hope was just a child when she disappeared and now she’s a grown woman? In a couple of months? I don’t think so.
But on the hand, Scott is in the original Ant-Man suit so she know’s Hank must have had some kind of hand in it. Then Hope show’s her a picture or video message from her father. Despite his age, Janet recognises and believes their story.
She agrees to go back with them, but there’s just one thing she must do before leaving: finish the war she started. Given that’s she got two new helpers with powered suits (plus at this density in the micro universe, this has increased their strength dramatically) and they set about fighting the good fight.
They win and after a certain amount of drama, they return back to the normal universe the same way Scott did back in the first movie. Janet is still young compared to Hank.
Maybe Hank announced at the start of the movie that Hank is dying and that his last wish would be to see his wife again. So they bring Janet back just in time to see him die.
The story ends.
