No thanks, I'm good.It seems as though every season of The Walking Dead breaks some kind of ratings record at AMC, so when the idea for a Walking Dead companion series came along it was a given that AMC would jump at the chance to make it.
Now it seems AMC have fallen in love with the series…well at the very least they like it a lot.
The news of the companion series has been vibrant for a while now, indeed, back in December I even broke the news that the co-lead for the series had been cast.
Now that a pilot has been completed, it seems that AMC are more than happy with the direction of the show, with news today that they’ve snapped up the show for two seasons straight away.
AMC obviously love something about the series.
However, before anyone gets their hopes up about shit-tonnes of zombie action all at once, Deadline are reporting that the first season of the companion series will echo the original series and only have 6 episodes. At this juncture it is only assumed that the second season will have a full season pick-up, but given Walking Dead’s numbers at the station I think it’s safe to say that it’s a given at this point.
For those of you who haven’t heard about the Walking Dead companion series yet, the show is set in Los Angeles and focuses on new characters and new storylines of West Coast survivors.
“We take incredibly seriously the notion of building a satisfying companion series to the number one show on television. From the beginning of The Walking Dead on AMC, we’ve been asked questions about what was going on in other parts of the zombie apocalypse, and what it looked like as the world really did ‘turn.’ Through this new series, we’re going to find out,” said Charlie Collier, AMC president. “We respectfully follow the request of Monty Python as we bring out (the latest of) our Dead.”
I think the companion series will be pretty interesting and I’m pretty eager to see the show air…what about you guys? (Tweet this and let me know what you think!)
