No thanks, I'm good.Good news everyone! According to The Wrap, The Kingsman: Secret Service 2 is happening at FOX.
Can you say awesome-o?
If you didn’t manage to catch Matthew Vaughan’s Kingsman movie, then you missed out on something of a treat. It was a fun, light-hearted homage to James Bond…and it was as entertaining as hell to boot.
Kingsman was based upon Mark Millar’s (of Kick-Ass fame – another fantastic Vaughan/Millar partnership) Secret Service comic books (which were equally as awesome – as ever) and if you haven’t figured it out from comparison to James Bond in the previous paragraph, it’s about British Spies.
The sequel was never really in question. Kingsman smashed it in the box office, clearing a $42m opening weekend and amassing a total gross of $126m in the US alone and an impressive worldwide gross of $400m. After a relatively low budget of $81m, that’s VERY good going.
Indeed, during the opening weeks of the movie, Director Matthew Vaughan danced around the subject when asked about the possibility of a sequel. But it was easy to read between the lines and clear to see where it was heading after the final numbers came it – the movie was too profitable for Fox NOT to consider making a sequel.
If the movie IS going to happen, then I don’t doubt for a second that Mark Millar has a sequel to his comic books, but nothing official has been mentioned yet.
It stands to figure though. For both Kick-Ass movies, Millar prefixed the movies with a comic book series. Hell, he even wrote a third series to tie everything up (I have no idea whether that movie is going to be made though).
What do you think about about a sequel to The Kingsman? Are you hyped for it? Did you enjoy the first?
