No thanks, I'm good. This week, the much anticipated Wonder Woman movie featuring the fantastical Gal Gadot suffered something of a set back this week, when Michelle MacLaren (of Breaking Bad / Game of Thrones / The Walking Dead fame) decided that the Wonder Woman project just wasn’t for her.
Today, it seems, her chair has already been filled.
Michelle MacLaren cited the usual “creative differences” in her resignation from the project, which could mean pretty much anything, but likely means her bosses were changing her concept of what she wanted to do and she didn’t think it’d work. Gotta respect her for sticking to her guns, I suppose.
So today marks the announcement of her replacement – a woman who is no stranger to “creative differences” on comic book movies. It’s the one and only Patty Jenkins.
Jenkins is the director who left Thor 2: The Dark World movie under some controversy a couple of years back so I’m sure she can sympathise with Michelle MacLaren’s predicament.
Jenkins of course came to fame having written and directed the 2003 Charlize Theron movie Monster and since then has enjoyed work on Entourage, Arrested Development and The Killing.
Whether Jenkins can handle a movie the size of Wonder Woman is yet to be seen, but with pre-production of the movie steam-rolling a long, we won’t have much time to question it.
Wonder Woman is scheduled to be released in Summer 2017.
