It’s official: Luke Cage has been cast for the forthcoming Marvel Netflix series!
The man portraying Luke Cage on the small screen is The Following and The Good Wife actor Mike Colter, who very definitely looks the part of the former Avengers leader.
Colter’s character will make his first on-screen appearance in other Marvel Netflix show Jessica Jones.
Awesome, right?
For those of you unfamiliar with the Luke Cage character, he was created in the 1970’s (first appearing in June 1972) by Archive Goodwin and John Romita SR during America’s blaxploitation phase.
Once the blaxploitation phenomenon faded, the Cage character was paired with Iron First and ever since the two have appeared together across multiple titles.
In more recent years, when Michael Brian Bendis took over writing control of the popular Marvel title The Avengers, Bendis brought Cage (and later Iron Fist) into the fold, revamping the character and bringing him back into the public eye and thus the Luke Cage Netflix was conceived.
