Our sources have confirmed that one classic Marvel character will definitely have a larger part in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 than many previous thought – and more beyond too.
And it’s going to be awesome.
With filming on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 officially wrapped up, I’ve heard from one of my sources a rather interesting tidbit of information regarding a classic Marvel character in the movie.
I think my source’s information is credible, because it aligns perfectly with the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 official synopsis that we shared with you just the other day.
Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
That classic Marvel we’re talking about is none other than Simon Williams AKA Wonder Man. In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, Williams will be portrayed by Nathan Fillion, who had a cameo in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. I suspect that’s precisely why some people dismissed the role as just another cameo or perhaps just a bit of after credits fun like Howard the Duck for example.
But according to my source, Fillion’s role will be bigger than just a cameo. The character won’t just be limited to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 either.
The Avengers Infinity War movies are reported to contain tonnes of Marvel heroes. My source tells me that Fillion will reprise his role for these movies too. Now that his Castle TV show is no more, his schedule has been freed up to do just that.
How cool is that?
The nature of Fillion’s Simon Williams character is unknown at this time. Will he already have his powers in the movie? Will this be an origin story for the character? We’ll just have to wait and see.
