In my last post about Captain America Civil War, I revealed the character who Martin Freeman will portray in the movie, which fits another piece of the puzzle together.
Today, however, I want to talk about how the movie will end.
In a recent interview with entirely awesome movie magazine Empire, Captain America Civil War co-director Joe Russo:
“…the consequences of Civil War will have an even more significant impact [than Captain America: The Winter Soldier]. In Civil War, we’re going to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Psychology, and it’s an extreme shift.”
Interesting words here. The Marvel Universe’s psychology? Will they leave the movie with split factions leading into the new Avengers movies? Or are they talking about something more here, something we’re not picking up yet?
Then, brother and co-director, Anthony Russo added that the movie will have a “very dramatic ending that will be controversial for a lot of people.”.
This line and the choice of words used is very interesting. Is he referring to the ending in the comic books in which Cap gives himself up to the authorities and ends up getting shot and “killed”? Bucky then becomes Cap going forward?
Or could this be something else? Could the “controversial for a lot of people” line actually mean the comic book fans who are expecting this ending but do not get it? What if another character dies? What if it’s Tony Stark?
I don’t have the answers, just speculation. I’d love to know what you guys think will happen.
Captain America Civil War will hit the cinema’s this coming April.
