Regardless of whether you’ve even watched the movie or not yet, you gotta admit, Ryan Reynolds and marketing team have absolutely nailed getting the word out about the already acclaimed Deadpool movie.
I think it was pretty much nailed on that Deadpool 2 would happen, it was just a question of when.
I think Fox know exactly what they’ve got in Deadpool now. An awesome movie, which already has a helluva fan base. And credit to them, they’ve allowed the marketing department to run riot and create a campaign that is finely attuned to the character in the movie they’re promoting.
It was always a tactic that was going to win our hearts, I’m just surprised Fox had the balls to go through with it. However, they had the balls to stick with the guys making the movie R rated, thereby not appealing to the wider audience so I guess they were all in from the start.
So it can come as no surprise to anyone that Fox are already taking about Deadpool 2.
The report comes from The Hollywood Reporter, who suggest that Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are already in the process of writing the follow up script for the movie – which Fox have already greenlighted.
With Deadpool looking at a $65-70 million opening weekend, perhaps Deadpool 2 was always on the cards.
However, will Deadpool 2 be Reynolds next outing as the Merc with a Mouth? Polygon are reporting that Reynolds is already talking about an X-Force movie.
“In the future, if we’re doing a bunch more Deadpool movies, we’re really going to explore the X-Men a lot,” Reynolds said. “And maybe X-Force. X-Force is my priority. I really want to get that in.”
Which one comes first? I don’t care – I can’t wait for either of them!
