No thanks, I'm good.So Disney has a Boba Fett movie in the works, which will see the origin of the much beloved Bounty Hunter depicted on the big screen. It was scheduled for a 2018 release, but now that’s been seemingly pushed back to 2020.
Goddamn it.
At this point, I’d like to blame the entire thing on Josh Trank, the director of the recent appalling Fantastic Four movie and the man who was supposed to take the helm of the Boba Fett movie.
I’m over-exaggerating of course. It probably has nothing to do with Trank.
Probably.
Maybe.
The official line is that the Lego movie director’s (Chris Miller and Phil Lord) Han Solo movie will take it’s place in the original 2018 slot. But the movie was supposed to be directed by Josh Trank – you see where I’m going with this?
With the latest Fantastic Four movie, Trank hasn’t done himself any favours within the industry. Not only is the movie terrible, he was quick to pin the blame on the studio. As we all know, Fox do have a track record for this, but now other things are emerging from the set. Stories that suggest that Fantastic Four lead Miles Teller and Trank clashed on set.
When you consider it all, it strikes me as a combination of scheduling and Disney taking the easy route while the Trank situation sorts itself out. Whether Trank will be the director of the Boba Fett movie when the dust settles is questionable, but at this point in time there has been no indication that he will no longer be involved in the project.
But fear not, Fett fans! Disney love the Fett Man.
“It’s still one of the stories that we absolutely want to tell”, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy told Entertainment Weekly.
“There is a lot of innovative technology in and around what it is we’re doing with that story, so for a lot of reasons, we were comfortable postponing that. But we’re definitely still developing it… We’re trying to get to a point where we’re never rushing for anything.”
