It looks like they did what Dan Aykroyd failed to do; they did the impossible.
They got Bill Murray to somehow be a part of the new Ghostbusters movie.
It has been common knowledge that for over a couple of years now, Dan Aykroyd has been trying to get another Ghostbuster movie made. Firstly, he wanted a reunion with the original cast which us Ghostbusters fans totally geeked out at. This is exactly what the fans wanted,
Then Aykroyd attempted to talk Murray into it and things pretty much went south from there. We have limited knowledge of what actually happened, but sources indicated that Murray wasn’t all that keen on the idea.
Then, in February last year, the actor who portrayed Dr. Egon Spengler – the great Harold Ramis – died and Aykroyd had to change his plans around. First there was talk of a younger cast of males taking over the show, lead up by Channing Tatum and Seth Rogen. And then it went to an all-female cast.
Fans balked at the idea, but to be fair to Aykroyd and the movie casting people they’ve managed to assemble a half-decent cast of female leads, including Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig.
And so it stood. Other actors like Chris Hemsworth and Andy Garcia were cast. Production Began. Then, rather unsurprisingly, we learned of the fact that Dan Aykroyd himself had himself a cameo in the movie.
But it looks like he isn’t the only one to re-appear. Yep, you guessed it. Bill Murray will do a cameo in the movie.
The news started as a rumour over the weekend as it was reported that Murray had been spotted on set in New York, however, speculation now seems to be fact as THR have now confirmed that it’s definitely happening.
What Murray’s cameo will entail is anyone’s guess, but this geek is happy that it’s happening.
