The Next Batman Animated Movie Has Been Announced

Shark Repellent Bat-Spray | Batman Tee | So Geekin' Awesome | Batman Animated Movie

Thanks to all the publicity regarding The Suicide Squad and Batman vs Superman at San Diego Comic-Con, one announcement that has pretty much slipped under the radar is the subject of Warner Bros next Batman Animated movie.

And that movie is going to be AWESOME.

Warner Bros have a penchant for producing high-quality animated DC Movies. Most of which, I prefer to the live-action movies if truth be told (hopefully, Suicide Squad and Batman vs Superman will ultimately changed that). My personal favourite was Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. James Woods, voicing Owlman, completely stole the show. It was epic. If you can, go watch it.

ANYWAY, at comic-con this past weekend the next installment of Warner Bros epic DC Animated Movie conquest was announced and you’re never going to guess which infamous Batman story they’re going to do next.

Let me give you a major hint (the title’s on the damn picture):

Batman Animated Movie | The Killing Joke

That’s right it’s Alan Moore and Brian Boland’s The Killing Joke. First published in 1988, the book reached some notoriety for a number of reasons. Firstly, it provided a possible origin story for The Joker and it was also the story in which The Joker shoots and paralyses Barbara Gordon AKA Batwoman AKA Oracle.

The Joker’s origin in the movie is a relatively tame one, but very well crafted. It depicts The Joker as a failing Comedian who falls in with the wrong crowd in order to support his family. The Joker is persuaded by some local hoods to be a part of their desperate crime scheme, which is inevitably thwarted by Batman and The Joker is thrown into the chemicals which send him mental.

I cannot wait for this movie!

The announcement was made at the SDCC World Premiere of the latest DC Animated movie, Justice League: Gods and Monsters, which features the impressive vocal talents of Michael C. Hall, Paget Brewster, Jason Isaacs and Benjamin Bratt. It was also announced that it will in fact be Bruce Timm – the man who has pretty much handled the DC Animated universe since the 90’s.

The story of The Killing Joke is set to remain pretty much the same, however, it was revealed that 15 minutes of prologue will be added to the movie to explain the lead up to the story a little better and help make the movie stand-alone.

Two other DC Animated projects were also announced at the same time. The first was another Batman animated movie, entitled Batman: Bad Blood. This is scheduled to be an original story and will feature the introduction of The Batwoman character.

The second, and arguably more interesting, animated movie scheduled is Justice League vs Titans and is scheduled to feature The Teen Titans.
