Spider-Man Confirmed For Captain America: Civil War

Yesterday, I published an article reporting that a new Spider-Man actor had been cast and today the Spider-Man news continues with confirmation that Spider-Man will in fact be in Captain America: Civil War.

Can you say Awesomeo?

Chris Evans welcomes Tom Holland

Upon yesterday’s casting announcement, Captain America actor Chris Evans was the first to congratulate Tom Holland in his new role (to your left!).

He’s just an awesome guy, right? True. But maybe there’s a little more to it than that.

Yesterday, in an interview with Marvel Studio’s President Kevin Feige and Ant-Man star Paul Rudd, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Spider-Man will definitely have some part to play in Captain America: Civil War.

They confirm that, “Holland is reporting to the Captain America: Civil War set in Georgia to film scenes for the 2016 film”

“Holland will report immediately to the set of the currently shooting Captain America: Civil War, which Marvel has scheduled for a May 6, 2016, release and in which the newest Spider-Man will make his first onscreen appearance,” reports Gregg Kilday (of The Hollywood Reporter).

At this point, virtually every superhero currently in the Marvel universe is scheduled to appear in the movie at some point and rightfully so; if done right, the Civil War between sueprheroes could be the best (and highest grossing) Marvel movie to date.

In the comic book version of the storyline, Spider-Man played a pivotal role in the fight, starting on one side and then turning to the other, seemingly becoming the heart of the Marvel Universe. In the movies, however, I very much doubt he’ll be a big player in the movie and other reports are suggesting that he’ll only have a cameo in the movie.

What do you think?
