No thanks, I'm good.Yeah, you read that right. I’m just going to let that sink for a little while before going into detail.
You good? Great.
According to The Guardian the US military is planning to develop Star Wars-style hover bikes.
Say whaaaaattttttttt????
The bike will be developed by a joint team of British and American engineers and will designed to do many of the jobs a helicopter is currently used for but “without the problems inherent with helicopter design.”
So it’s going to replace the role of a helicopter? They’re going to build one big enough to handle troop deployments and the likes? Jesus Christ!
The project will be spearheaded by British firm Malloy Aeronautics, who spoke to Reuters regarding the benefits of the new machinery, “there are a lot of advantages of the Hoverbike over a regular helicopter. Primarily there’s safety.” But like most things, it also comes down to the Dollar (or in this case pound) “The other thing is cost. This is much less expensive to buy … and much less expensive to run.”
An interesting notion, to be sure.
In September last year, Malloy created a Kickstarter campaign for the devices, built at one-third the size of the finished article.
Here’s a video with the details.
