No thanks, I'm good.Yesterday, Latino Review broke a rumour regarding the a new Batman movie and it has since spread like wildfire around the interwebs.
Why? Because it has the potential to be AWESOME!
Last week, Latino Review (again) announced another rumour which basically stated that Ben Affleck’s Batman would get a stand-alone movie which is scheduled to be released at some point in 2019. A new Batman movie peeps! Yaaaayyy!?!? :-/
But the stand-alone movie is not really a rumour, is it? Educated guess, maybe. We already know that Warner Bros have signed Affleck up to a multiple picture deal to portray The Dark Knight so the likelihood of him getting at least one Batman movie was pretty decent odds.
Yesterday, however, the boys over at Latino Review expanded their rumours. This time, they not only reaffirmed the news that Batman was going to have a solo movie but also that Ben Affleck would also direct the movie.
It’s a rumour that I don’t find all that hard to believe considering he’s leaning more towards directing these days and he’s directed some pretty decent films (Gone Baby Gone, The Town and Argo to name the popular ones). But not only that, it’s the whole pressure of the Batman reboot hanging over his head.
A lot of fans are dead against the many, MANY rebooted hero movies and are kinda starting to resent the whole idea. Affleck isn’t a stupid man, he’s well aware of this. I suspect that his deal was: “if you want me to play Batman in a rebooted solo movie, I want the reigns”. But obviously, that’s all conjecture at this point.
But that’s not the only rumour update! Apparently, the movie now has a more specific (yet still unconfirmed) release date of November 2018. Apparently, this has been done so the movie will go head-to-head with Marvel’s Captain Marvel movie which is rumoured to be scheduled in at the same time.
Interesting, huh?
With Comic-Con just a couple of weeks away, I get the impression we’re going to find out soon whether or not these rumours are true and I can’t wait!
