What sums up George R.R. Martin and his Game of Thrones world the most? For my money, it’s the concept of Winter.
Not only is Winter integral to the environment of his world, it’s the catchphrase for one of the integral families in the entire series. After all, “Winter is coming”.
But as a reader and a viewer of the TV show, Winter has an entirely different meaning. What is it? George R.R. Martin is one cold motherflippa. Killing off characters – mostly favourite characters – left, right and centre and often in the most brutal ways possible. Goddamn him.
