Back in July last year, I reported that The Gambit movie was in serious trouble and today’s news from Fox could be the final nail in the coffin.

Brace yourself Cajun fans, this could be heart breaking.

Gambit Movie Woes

Not so long along, I passed the following comic book movie checklist image around my social media channels:

And a lot of people asked me: “Gambit has a release date??? October this year???”. After writing the article in July, I had my serious doubts about the movie being made at all and after today’s news, I think my suspicions are halfway confirmed.

So let me break the bad news to you.

According to ComicBookResources, fox have been looking at their scheduling dates for 2017 and 2018 and have pretty much pulled The Gambit movie from the schedule.

Needless to say, from a firm October 2016 release date to off the schedule completely is not a good place for the movie to be in.

Fox set dates for two further Marvel movies for October 6 2017 and January 12th 2018 respectively, with the latter date expected to be Deadpool’s second outing.

The End of Gambit?

But is this the end of Gambit in the Fox Marvel movie universe? I doubt it. I think Gambit will make an appearance in Deadpool 2 movie.

In this post a week or so back, I reported that Marvel comics had a new Deadpool and Gambit title in the works and I don’t think this is any kind of coincidence.

As I mentioned in that post, what better way to set up a Gambit movie than in the Deadpool sequel. There will be plenty of bums in seats to secure an audience before the movie has even finished filming. It’s sure-fire win, don’t you think?
