Dominic Purcell Joins Arrow/Flash Spin-Off

Dominic Purcell joins Flash/Arrow Spin-Off | Flash | Arrow | DC Comics | Television | Comic Books

For those of you who haven’t been watching Arrow or Flash…then shame on you. Both shows are coming into their own and, if you’ll forgive the obvious pun, The Flash has hit the ground running achieving critically acclaim from even the harshest of geek.

Just like Arrow before it, The Flash is planting villains with impeccable storylines that just work. At first I was worried that show would be too formulaic like the first couple of seasons of Smallville, whereby someone or other would get Kryptonite powers and the show would end with Clark Kent kicking their ass.

But the Flash has transcended this paradigm and has become so much more.

Prison Break?

Earlier in the series, former Prison Break brothers Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell become brothers in crime for the show, portraying the infamous Captain Cold and Heatwave respectively.

These characters make up the core of the team of villains which has become known as “The Rogues” in the comic books; a collective of Flash villains that stand apart from other villains and the superhero community alike, becoming the ultimate anti-hero team.

In the world of TV, it seems the concept is getting re-vamped with a superhero teamed spin-off, which Purcell has just signed up for.

Spin-Off

The spin-off was announced back in February of this year, and is being described by all as a “team-up show” with Arrow/Flash cast members such as Wentworth Miller (Captain Cold), Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/The Atom) and Victor Garber (Dr Martin Stein/Half of Firestorm) already signed up to the project.

Now Dominic Purcell has been confirmed to have signed up, reprising his role as Mick Rory AKA Heatwave, a pyromaniac who finds an outlet for his mental defect by sporting flame guns and setting folk alight.

The new project is scheduled for a mid-season debut next year and for all intents and purposes, is shaping up to be rather awesome…wouldn’t you agree? Let me know on Twitter and/or Facebook!
