As most eager Community fans will already know, Community was saved from complete cancellation last year when yahoo announced they were picking up the show as a part of their online video line-up – well now we have an air date!
So what can we expect from Yahoo’s showing of Community? According to GeekTyrant:
‘Harmon confirms we won’t have to pay to watch the show on Yahoo Screen – it’s advertising-supported’ and ‘Despite being freed from traditional network restrictions, we shouldn’t expect the show to change too much. “Three-act stories are what work for me,” Harmon said. There also won’t be any profanity or nudity.’
Season 6 of Community of course will not feature Donald Glover (Troy) or Yvette Nicole Brown (Shirley) will not be returning, but Harmon has opened the door for a potential return, showing interest in featuring the actors in an episode if they’re around.
So at this point I guess you’re wondering precisely when the show will return, huh? Well, I’ll let the cast tell you:
Or if you’re too lazy to watch the video, Community Season 6 will return on March 17th with a two episode opener and the season will follow every following Tuesday for it’s 13 episode run.
Although the in-show joke of “Six Seasons and a Movie” Harmon has left the door open for a potential return: ”
I’m definitely not writing [this season] as if it’s the end,” he said. “Only when people stop watching would I ever stop wanting to make the product. I have to continue writing the show as if it’s going to last for 20 seasons. I do have a naive feeling that we’ve demonstrated that Greendale itself is an environment, is a character. One of the things that we’ve learned how to do is make sure the cast fluctuations don’t destroy the show immediately.”
